2000 Acura Integra GS-R DC2, B18C1, United States import
A real GS-R in a market full of badges, with one question left blank
Overview
Compiled by Kept from the seller's intake answers, the documents supplied and published records for the model. The seller does not write or edit this section, and nobody from Kept has inspected the car.
This 2000 Acura Integra GS-R is finished in black over grey cloth and is offered from Edenvale by , who imported it from the United States in 2020. It carries the B18C1 VTEC four and the five speed manual, and the odometer reads 92,100 miles, which converts to the 148,300km published here.
The point of a GS-R in this market is that it is verifiable and most of what wears the badge is not. Integra bodyshells here routinely carry Type R stickers, GS-R badges and swapped engines, and the only way to separate a real car from a dressed one is the engine number, the chassis plate and the import file read together. All three are photographed and published with this lot. The engine is the B18C1 it was built with.
The mechanical file since import is complete. Suspension bushes, dampers and front brakes in 2022, the sunroof drains cleared in 2023 after water was found in the passenger footwell, and the cam belt, tensioner and water pump done at 148,300km in June ahead of the sale. The aftermarket short shifter and exhaust are disclosed and the original parts are not included.
One question went unanswered. Asked whether the car has ever been stolen and recovered, the seller declined and gave no reason. This model was among the most stolen cars in the United States during its production life, a stolen and recovered car often carries a branded title there, and the seller holds the import paperwork that a bidder does not. Kept publishes the decline as it stands. Bidders should price it accordingly.
Model background
The DC2 Integra is the car that taught a generation what a naturally aspirated four could do. The B18C1 in the GS-R makes 170 horsepower from 1.8 litres without a turbocharger, revs to 8,000rpm, and does it through a chassis light enough that the power was never the point. The Type R above it went further with a hand ported head and a stripped shell, and became one of the most collectable Japanese cars of its era.
That collectability is exactly the problem. Type R prices pulled GS-R prices up behind them, and both pulled up a large population of ordinary Integras wearing the right badges. Verification on this model is engine number, chassis plate and title history, and the market has learned to ask for all three because the bodywork proves nothing.
In South Africa these arrive as private imports, mostly from Japan and the United States, and they arrive into a market with no national vehicle history record of its own. What comes with the car is what a buyer gets. That makes the import file the most valuable document in the folder, and it makes an unanswered question about the car's history in its country of origin a very loud silence.

Seller interview
Before the car went live, the seller answered a standard set of questions plus a set our tools generated for this model from its documented failure modes. The full transcript is public, including anything they declined.
9 of 10 answered, 1 declined. A high score means the seller told you more, not that the car is better.
Inferred from the seller's answers and this model's known failure points. Nobody from Kept has inspected this car.
1 question the seller declined
Has this car ever been stolen and recovered, and does the United States title it was imported on carry a brand of any kind?
This model was among the most stolen cars in the United States during its production life. A recovered theft is usually branded on the title, and the seller holds the import paperwork.

Note from the seller
The seller's own words, published as written. The only copy on this page they control.
I imported this in 2020 and it has been my weekend car since. It has never been raced, never been to a strip, and it has spent five Highveld winters in a garage in Edenvale. Everything I have done to it is invoiced and in the documents.
What I would want to know: the clutch bites high and I have not replaced it, the front bumper has been resprayed at some point and you can see it in the right light, the shifter and exhaust are aftermarket and I do not have the originals, and the sunroof leaked into the passenger footwell in 2023 and was fixed properly.
I was asked whether the car has ever been stolen and recovered and I did not answer. That is my answer and I am not going to add to it here.

Mechanically this is a lot of car for the money and the belt is two months old. I am bidding on the metal and pricing the blank as though the answer is the bad one, because that is the only sane way to treat it.
For anyone who does not follow the American system: a recovered theft usually leaves a mark on the title, and the import paperwork he holds would normally reference the title it came in on. He has published the bill of lading and the SARS release. The title is the document not in the set.
And then the theft question is blank. Not I do not know, not the file does not say. Blank, with no reason. He is entitled to do that and we are entitled to read it.
Engine number and chassis plate published up front. That alone puts this ahead of every Integra I have looked at in five years of looking, and I have walked away from four cars that turned out to be shells with badges.
